Meer dan 40 gerenommeerde en wereldberoemde kunstenaars maakten enorme schilderijen op muren en fantastische kunstinstallaties in open ruimtes in Oostende. Alles samen cre\u00ebert dit een artistieke reis in en rond Oostende. 'Het Kristalschip - kunstfestival in de stad' is het grootste festival in zijn genre in Europa.<\/p>

Oostende en de grote oorlog: een stad vol herinneringen<\/h2>

Associeert u de populaire badplaats Oostende met het angstaanjagende geluid van kanonnen en kanonnen? Nee? Wij ook niet. En toch... Honderd jaar geleden, toen het badtoerisme net op gang kwam en de gegoede burgerij naar Oostende trok om er te genieten van de herstellende eigenschappen van het zeewater (en andere sterkere waters), vonden de bommenwerpers jammer genoeg ook hun weg naar de Koningin der Belgische badsteden.<\/p>

Nieuwsgierig naar meer? Stap dan op de fiets, of maak een wandeling door de stad en verken het indrukwekkende oorlogserfgoed van Oostende.<\/p>

OOSTENDE TIJDENS DE GROTE OORLOG (DIGITALE STADSWANDELING)<\/h3>

De digitale stadswandeling is gebaseerd op het dagboek van trambestuurder Charles Castelein, die 52 jaar oud was toen de oorlog uitbrak in 1914. Kom meer te weten over het oorlogsverleden van Oostende, gezien door de ogen van een Oostendse. U krijgt een audiogids met scherm.<\/p>

Experts en historici zoals professor Luc De Vos en Marc Reynebeau geven ook hun visie op Oostende tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog: over Oostende als bezette stad, de kustverdediging, de rol die de haven speelde, de vernielingen in de stad, enzovoort.<\/p>

Mercator<\/h2>

De poolreiziger Adrien de Gerlache ontwierp deze driemaster die in Schotland werd gebouwd. De Mercator had slechts twee kapiteins en maakte 54 reizen. In 1956 repatrieerde het de stoffelijke resten van Pater Damiaan van Molokai. In 1960 voer het de haven van Antwerpen binnen en in 1961 werd het ingericht als museumschip. Sinds 1964 is het de parel in de kroon van Oostende.<\/p>

Beaufort 2018 - Kunsttri\u00ebnnale aan zee<\/h2>

Beaufort is een cultureel toeristisch project langs de Belgische kust. Om de drie jaar presenteert een selectie van nationale en internationale kunstenaars hun kunstwerken in de openbare ruimte, met name in de natuurlijke biotoop van het Belgische kustlandschap.
